Exams 2013

Best of luck to all pupils taking exams in May and June 2013. To be fair, luck is a small part of the success equation; those of you who have put in the study work will be rightly rewarded in August. Can all Media pupils please focus upon the Key Concepts Representation and Institutions. These are essential parts of Assignment 2 and will need sound reference within the body of your work. Remember we're focusing upon Print and producing front covers for a specific audience.

Media Exam Revision and Preparation.  

The Media Exam is on June 14th.  The exam is on TV Crime Drama.  It is important that you are familiar with this genre and can apply the four media concepts to it.

Remember R.A.I.L.  Representation, Audience, Institutions (companies), Language of Media.

Work through the revision folders i have given you and above all - watch some episodes of TV Crime Dramas and take some notes on the codes and conventions below; remember to relate the key concepts to them, this is what will gain the high marks.

Yr 11 Assignment 2.

For the first part of Assignment 2, the Analytical Response, you should be comparing two of your band's/artiste's promotional media products. This could be a WEBSITE and an ALBUM COVER, a TELEVISION ADVERT, a VIDEO, a MAGAZINE ARTICLE (DO NOT pick an article that runs the band down!) or a POSTER.

You must EXPLAIN how the two different MEDIA PLATFORMS form a linked campaign for the promotion of the band.

REPRESENTATION

Write about their appearance and what they are wearing, how does this promote the band? Why have these choices been made? What are the CONNOTATIONS?

Write about what they say and how they behave. What type of person are they trying to represent?

INSTITUTIONS

Write about what the market strategy is (How are they trying to sell records? how are they appealing to the audience? Where and when will the products be seen (On which channels will adverts/videos be shown? How are the products SHAPED/DESIGNED to suit a particular MEDIA PLATFORM.

USE THE FOLLOWING TERMINOLOGY

DENOTATION, CONNOTATION, FONTS, COLOURS, DRESS CODE, FACISL EXPRESSIONS, AUDIENCE, GENRE, MEDIA PLATFORM.

Yr 11 Media Assignment 2.

Welcome back to your final year of Media Yr 11. It is important that you are working upon Assignment 2 and are almost ready to complete and hand in. You should be in th process of completing your MySpace page for your band/artiste. Your page should PROMOTE your band/artiste and you must compliment this page with either a STORYBOARD or SCRIPT of a television/radio interview with the band. If you are still in any doubts on either of these parts of THE RESEARCH AND PLANNING TASK please see me a.s.a.p. Re,member to provide some brief notes on this part of the Assignment summarising why your choices would successfully promote the band/artiste. please see example assignment contained in the Exemplar Booklet.
